Fewer Southwest Floridians are traveling to Europe for vacation
High air fares and a weak dollar are leading summer travelers to rethink their vacation destinations. Several Southwest Florida travel agencies are reporting lower numbers of customers traveling to Europe, where the unfavorable exchange rate for the U.S. dollar can make American travelers cringe.

Editor’s note: Sam Kirch grew up in south Lee County and plans to become a doctor. Her father, Tim Kirch, has cancer and no way to pay for treatments. We ran a column this week by Arnold Rosenthal that was first printed in a March edition of The Banner. Rosenthal called last week and said the issue of America’s dependence on oil worried him, and he pointed out that no major politician has a plan to fix the situation.

A qualifying round for the FSGA Match Play Championship will be held July 15 at Crown Colony Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers.
